LOVE, UNITY, FAITH, HOPE, COURAGE, JUSTICE and FORGIVENESS
These are the bedrock values of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute - ingredients that create a foundation of a peaceful world.
I walk in honor of those murdered; to offer love, solidarity and support to all survivors and in celebration of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. Since it’s founding, it continues to provide tremendous support, understanding and services, helping build hope and paths forward.
My first walk was in 2018 with my dear friend, Heather. Together, we walked with families and friends to celebrate, and honor loved ones impacted by murder, and with those working to end gun violence and access to weapons.
This year I also walk with Kyre Ambrose in my heart: an irrepressible, gifted and beautiful human, dancer and spirit who touched everyone he met or who watched him dance, in his brief 19 years. Those who knew Kyre anticipated a soaring future, which abruptly ended on January 3, 2025, when he was murdered. It is an unfathomable loss to his expansive and overlapping communities and to the greater dance world. Kyre’s flame, inspiration and love live on, and this walk offers a way to move forward together, taking positive steps and celebrating his vibrant, graceful and remarkable being.
On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, please consider walking with me in honor and support of Kyre and the many others impacted by violence and murder on a path toward peace and healing.
